Who can Participate?
Montréal Tennis Lambda is a tennis league born particularly for the homosexual community of Montréal. Howhever, everybody can participate to our differents leagues and tournament.
Two leagues and two tournaments are available for players:
- Recreational League;
- Competitive league;
- President's Cup;
- Coupe de la Reine Tournament.
Recreational League
The recreational league is open to gay men and lesbians who already know how to play tennis, regardless of their level of play. Players are free to show up as often or as seldom as they wish throughout the season without committing themselves. We try to match players according to their levels in order to make the games as interesting as possible for all. Unless otherwise agreed by the players, matches are played in accordance with the Rules of the Court (Tennis Canada).

Competitive League
Four teams of six players meet in singles and doubles in a format similar to that of the Davis Cup ties. Each team has players from each of four levels, A, B, C and D, and matches are limited to one hour with a tie-break played with five minutes remaining. Each week, every participant plays a single and a double match. Wins, losses, and points for and against are accumulated throughout the summer to determine which two teams will meet in the season-ending championship. Players who sign up commit to show up every week to play their scheduled matches. A list of substitute players is available should a team member be unavailable for a particular match. The first week of the season is a qualifying round to determine the individual ranking of the prospective team members.
